Guidelines for an Enjoyable Round
At Bosch Hoek, we aim to provide a relaxed and enjoyable golfing experience for all players. The following guidelines are in place to help maintain the pace of play, preserve the condition of the course, and ensure a consistent experience for members and guests alike.
Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the information below before your round.
On-Course Etiquette
- To ensure an enjoyable round for all players, we encourage a steady pace of play. As a guideline, 9 holes should be completed in approximately 2 hours 10 minutes, and 18 holes in 4 hours 30 minutes.
- Please arrive at your tee at least 5 minutes prior to your allocated tee time to assist with the smooth flow of play.
- We kindly ask all golfers to care for the course by repairing pitch marks, replacing or filling divots, and raking bunkers after use, leaving the course as you would wish to find it.
- Cellular telephones may not be used on the golf course or driving range.
Cart Guidelines
- Golf carts are to be used with consideration for both the course and fellow players.
- Please keep carts to designated paths wherever possible.
- Carts must remain at least 20 metres from all greens and should not be driven on tees or surrounding slopes.
- Only individuals in possession of a valid driver's licence are permitted to operate a cart.
- A maximum of two carts is allowed per fourball.
Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be cautioned, and continued disregard may result in removal from the course at the discretion of the Golf Director or Course Marshal.
General Clubhouse Etiquette
- Members and guests are kindly asked to respect fellow patrons both on the golf course and around the clubhouse (loud, disruptive, or inappropriate behaviour from individuals or groups may negatively affect the experience of others).
- Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising children at all times.
- Right of Admission Reserved.
Etiquette on Greens & in Bunkers
Proper course care helps maintain the quality and playability of the course for all members and guests. A pitch mark repaired correctly takes only a few seconds, while one repaired incorrectly may take several weeks to heal fully. Correct repair techniques also help protect the turf root system and preserve the condition of the greens.
How to Repair a Pitch Mark
- Discard the loose piece of turf removed by the ball.
- Insert the pitch mark repair tool just outside the back of the pitch mark.
- Gently lever the turf toward the centre of the mark.
- Repeat this motion from all sides until the surface is level.
- Lightly tap the repaired area with your putter to smooth the surface and encourage recovery.
Correct Bunker Etiquette
- Enter and exit the bunker at the lowest convenient point nearest your ball.
- Carry the rake into the bunker with you.
- After playing your shot, place the rake nearby within easy reach.
- Rake all disturbed areas, including footprints and the area where the club contacted the sand.
- Exit the bunker and complete the final smoothing from outside.
- When complete, the bunker surface should be smooth and even, free from footprints, divots, and excess sand build-up along the edges.
