By this stage of the round, many golfers begin to wonder if there is ever a hole at Bosch Hoek without water in play, but the breathtaking views over the dam more than make up for it. The seventh and sixteenth are short par threes playing at 130 and 115 metres respectively. Water runs along the entire left-hand side, while two well-positioned greenside bunkers guard the putting surface. The safer option is to favour the right side, where the natural slope helps feed the ball back toward the green. For golfers chasing birdie opportunities, this is one of the best chances on the course.
Pro Insight:
With the seventh hole playing only 130 metres, most players will have a lofted club in hand, anything from a 7-iron through to a gap wedge depending on distance. Play toward the right half of the green, avoiding both the bunker and the water on the left. Height is your friend on this hole, as a higher ball flight allows the ball to land softer and reduces the risk of bouncing through the back into trouble. Once on the green, you will notice that putts from either side tend to move toward the water and the front edge of the putting surface.
