Good day to everyone,
With the beauty of spring upon us, Bosch Hoek is certainly coming to life. The trees are proudly showing off their new leaves, flowers are bursting into blossom, and the animals and birds have emerged from their winter retreats. Everywhere we look, there are signs of new life, reminding us once again just how fortunate we are to be part of this beautiful corner of the KZN Midlands.
There is also a great deal happening at Bosch Hoek, and we are delighted to share some of our latest news with you.
Our Clubhouse renovations continue at pace, and we are pleased with the progress being made. The main bar, new Pro Shop and both the front and back verandas are now complete, with the change rooms expected to be close to complete this week. The new café and retail space along with the virtual golf room are also taking good shape and should be ready soon.
It has been a substantial undertaking, but we are already seeing the results of the planning, hard work and attention to detail that have gone into creating these new facilities. We believe the improvements will add hugely to the overall Bosch Hoek experience, while retaining the warmth and character that have always made our Clubhouse so special.
The golf course has come through its spring treatment with flying colours and continues to look magnificent. Speaking of colour, our gardens have also come to life, and we are taking the opportunity to further enhance the areas surrounding the course. These improvements will add even more beauty to an already spectacular setting and backdrop.
The Memorial Shelter is also receiving further attention and will soon offer much more than simply restroom facilities. With improved catering facilities and an attractive area for smaller functions, it will provide another welcoming space for golfers to stop, enjoy a refreshment, and gather with friends during their rounds.
We are pleased that we have been able to hold both subscriptions and green fees for Members at the 2025 / 2026 levels for the coming year. We have also introduced a discounted 48-round package, which we hope will be well received.
It is encouraging to see a steady intake of new Members, together with several former Members returning to Bosch Hoek. One Member recently remarked how pleased she was to be "back home at Bosch Hoek". That comment meant a great deal to us because it captures something we have always believed: Bosch Hoek is much more than simply a place to play golf. It is a place where friendships are formed, memories are made and people feel that they belong.
Our sincere thanks go to our Club Chairman, Men's Captain and the entire Committee for their continued commitment, dedication, and support of Bosch Hoek Golf. Their contribution is greatly appreciated and plays an important role in the continued success of our Club.
Visitor rounds continue to grow, and we are welcoming golfers from across South Africa and around the world. It is rewarding to see how much they appreciate the complete Bosch Hoek experience, from the condition of the golf course to the facilities offered by the Clubhouse, Pro Shop and our two veranda entertainment areas.
Just as importantly, visitors recognize the professionalism of our management team and the dedication of our supporting staff.
We can honestly say that the feedback we continue to receive has been overwhelmingly positive. We have had no complaints, only compliments, with some golfers going as far as to say they have not played a course of this standard for a very long time.
If these comments were only occasional, we might simply regard them as welcome compliments. But when we hear the same praise time and time again, from golfers who have played courses throughout South Africa and beyond, it becomes particularly encouraging. It is a wonderful reflection of the effort that goes into maintaining Bosch Hoek, and something of which our team can be proud.
We have also undertaken a considerable amount of work cleaning up and improving the areas surrounding both the golf course and the Lodge. These are the less noticeable improvements, but they all contribute to the overall appearance and experience of everyone who visits.
The Lodge continues to maintain a good average occupancy rate. We are planning further upgrades to the Lodge facilities in the new year, ensuring that our accommodation continues to meet the high standards our guests have come to expect.
We will also be constructing a pathway between the Lodge and the Clubhouse, providing a more convenient and attractive connection between these two important parts of Bosch Hoek.
Once the Clubhouse renovations are complete, we look forward to showcasing the finished facilities to our Members, homeowners, visitors, and friends of Bosch Hoek. We anticipate that this will be towards the end of February 2027, and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone into the newly refurbished spaces.
Alongside these improvements, we will continue strengthening our marketing efforts through social media, word of mouth and, perhaps most importantly, the experiences of those who visit us.
One of the greatest compliments we can receive is when someone leaves Bosch Hoek already looking forward to returning. We want to build on that feeling and encourage golfers, Lodge guests, and visitors to come back time and time again. We firmly believe that the best marketing comes from people who have genuinely enjoyed their time with us and want to share that experience with others.
Another project that is progressing well is our Bosch Hoek coffee table book. We are now well on our way to completing what we believe will be a wonderful record of Bosch Hoek, its history, its people, and the many memories that have been created here over the years.
Greg Ardé, who is writing the book, would still like to interview several homeowners and Members to capture their personal stories and experiences. He will be in contact with those concerned, and we would greatly appreciate your participation. These memories are an important part of the Bosch Hoek story, and we would love to preserve them for future generations.
Our management and staff have had a challenging year or so, and I am proud of the way they have come through it. Their dedication, loyalty, and willingness to work together have been remarkable.
It is rewarding that we retained a committed management and staff team over so many years. This continuity is one of Bosch Hoek's strengths. Their knowledge, pride and genuine care all contribute to what makes Bosch Hoek so special.
We have developed and registered a new golfing slogan to complement our well-known saying, "As good as it gets...". Our new golfing slogan is "Raising the Par!".
We believe these words reflect exactly what we are striving to achieve. While we are enormously proud of what Bosch Hoek already offers, we remain committed to continually improving our facilities, our service, and the overall experience. There is always an opportunity to do something better, and that is the standard we continue to set for ourselves.
As we look ahead, one of our priorities is to build an even stronger bond with each homeowner. We believe this can best be achieved through open communication, personal contact, working together, mutual respect and, above all, friendship.
We are, after all, neighbours who share something quite extraordinary. We are fortunate to live, work and spend time in one of the most beautiful parts of the KZN Midlands, and we all have a common interest in preserving and enjoying the land that means so much to us.
I had the pleasure of reading the Bosch Hoek Homeowners' Spring Newsletter this evening and it was so good. Congratulations to everyone involved.
To all our Members, homeowners, guests, golf visitors, and social visitors, we sincerely thank you for your continued support and friendship; we can promise one thing: we will continue in our efforts to make Bosch Hoek Golf the very best it can be.
Our ambition is to see Bosch Hoek recognized as a "must-play course", not only for the quality of the golf but for the complete experience, the people, the hospitality, and the magnificent surroundings that make a visit here so memorable.
We believe that Bosch Hoek is situated in the most beautiful valley in the KZN Midlands. Let us all work together, as one team, to preserve that beauty, strengthen our community and continue building on everything that makes this place so special.
We look forward to welcoming you to Bosch Hoek and sharing the exciting months ahead with you.
Warm regards,
Ivan Clark
