Welcome to Bosch Hoek Golf Club
Dear Members, Guests and Visitors,
As the cold Winter months approach us Bosch Hoek Golf Course has transformed into a sea of red, orange, brown and yellow! The new Bentgrass greens continue to receive rave reviews and our fairways remain green and lush as we fast approach our first frost! Well done to our Golf Course Superintendent, Kes Hansen and his Staff!
I am delighted to confirm Alicia Giliomee as our new Executive Chef. She brings with her a wealth of experience and legendary combinations of innovative cuisine. We welcome her to Bosch Hoek Golf Club and wish her well as she settles into life in the KZN Midlands.
The Clubhouse has been a hive of activity with numerous events hosted by our Events Manager, Kayleigh Page. Our inaugural Lamb on the Spit evening was a great success as was the ”Sold Out” Mother’s Day lunch!
We look forward to again hosting the annual Sharks Invitational! It will once again be a great privilege to have the likes of John Smit, Bismarck du Plessis, Patrick Lambie, Frans Steyn and the rest of the Sharks squad gracing the fairways of Bosch Hoek!
The Pro Shop, ably managed by Faye Mackenzie, has a wide variety of golf apparel and accessories and the new Winter range of garments is sure to be a winner with those looking for performance brands at affordable prices.
I trust you will enjoy the unique experience of one of the most picturesque and deceptively challenging parkland golf courses, with every hole presenting its own beauty and character. This Bob Grimsdell designed 9 hole, 18 tee-box golf course guides you around a lake, dams, streams and beautiful trees, creating a wonderful golfing experience since 1963.
The Clubhouse enhances the overall “Bosch Hoek Experience” and the Staff will certainly provide you with a friendly and efficient service.
My family and I are privileged to own such a special piece of real estate, situated in the heart of the KZN Midlands Meander and our hope is that you will enjoy it as much as we do. We look forward to hosting you at Bosch Hoek Golf Club in the not too distant future.
The Gem Has Become A Polished Diamond
“I know I waxed lyrically the last time I played Bosch Hoek Golf Club, and because of this I must admit that prior to our arrival I was a bit concerned that the little gem would not be what it used to be after the extensive upgrade…..
As you well know, I had no reason to be worried, as to use the cliché, “the gem has become a polished diamond!”
In my amateur design opinion the changes to the course are fantastic!! Both Par 5’s, as well as the beautiful new Par 3 7th have enhanced the course to the extent where you now have a proper Championship experience with such a great mix and balance of holes. I love the fact that you have left the 2nd hole almost as is and the strong Par 4 finish to both 9’s ensures that you need to have your “A” game when you finish the round!
Congratulations, I think you and your team have done an outstanding job – the rest of the experience was as per the last time – great staff, great service and great food in awesome surroundings.
It is honestly one of my favourite golfing experiences in South Africa!
My boys made me laugh as when we arrived we were not sure whether to play 9 or 18 holes, but literally after a few holes, both of them said we are definitely playing 18! Then when we were leaving they said it has to become a family tradition to play Bosch Hoek Golf Club each time we pass it….I think that says it all!
Thank you once again and we will be back (often) that much I can assure you!!”
Etiquette On Greens & In Bunkers
One of the most frustrating things for green keepers everywhere is to deal with the damage caused to the surface of a green by golf pitch marks. Well, actually, it isn’t the damage that’s frustrating. The damage is inevitable. What’s frustrating is when golfers are far too lazy to repair those golf pitch marks resulting in damage to the greens and impacting on the smoothness of the putting surface. This is not rocket science, but good golf etiquette.
